The spot price is what a metal trades at right now on the international market. The fix is a single clearing price set in a short daily auction, gold and silver twice a day, platinum and palladium once each session, used as a settlement reference across the trade.
Bullion is quoted per troy ounce (about 31.1 grams), heavier than the everyday ounce. Gold and silver benchmarks are FCA regulated; platinum and palladium are administered by the LBMA.

What is the spot price of gold today?

What is the LBMA gold fix?
The LBMA Gold Price is a benchmark set twice a day (AM and PM) in London through an electronic auction administered by ICE Benchmark Administration. It is the global reference used to price bullion contracts.
How is the spot price converted to the Dubai gold rate?
The spot price per troy ounce is divided by 31.1035 to get a per-gram price, converted from US dollars to dirhams, then adjusted for karat purity to give the 24K, 22K and 21K rates quoted in Dubai.
